The JCPL Foundation
The Johnson County Public Library Foundation, Inc. seeks to assist the Johnson County Public Library in providing outstanding information, education and culture for all members of the community by granting supplemental funding to assist the library in promoting literacy in Johnson County.
Created in 2016, the Johnson County Public Library Foundation joined the Friends of JCPL (founded in 1979) to provide resources that promote and encourage lifelong learning as well as support the Library's mission of strengthening our community by connecting people, resources and experiences.
How We Help
Authors at JCPL
Authors at JCPL is a program series that brings popular and award-winning writers from around the country to Johnson County. Your support of the Foundation helps us continue to bring authors to our county.
Expanding Explore Summer
The Foundation is committed to expanding JCPL's Explore Summer Learning Program that encourages community members to read, create and discover. The program supports the development of early literacy skills, prevents learning loss in school-age children and brings readers of all ages together with fun activities and great prizes.
“JCPL’s Summer Learning Program helps kids stay engaged with the learning process all summer long. Our staff and patrons love the innovative programs, fun activities and great prizes.”
– Sarah Taylor, JCPL Assistant Director
Special Projects Campaign for the new Clark Pleasant Branch
"Enhancing the Story" is seeking to fund enhancements inside and outside the new branch which will open in the first quarter of 2022. The campaign vision includes features such as public art, a nature trail and a community garden.
Friends of JCPL
The Friends of JCPL are part of the Foundation. Their book sales raise funds to support programs at all JCPL Branches.
Snuggle Up with a Book Ball
In 2020, the Foundation hosted the first Snuggle Up with a Book Ball, a unique at-home fundraising event. Supporters donate to the Foundation and then stay home to enjoy snuggling up with a book the day of the event. The money raised from this annual event supports the Authors at JCPL visits.
