Interested in Being a Sponsor? Click here to learn more!
The Johnson County Public Library Foundation is proud to announce our first annual afternoon tea fundraiser - a charming afternoon bringing together community members and donors to support funding the Explore Summer Endowment, so the Library's summer learning program may be funded in perpetuity. This year's tea party will also honor members of the Silver Tree Society.
-
Parking is available at the Franklin Parks and Rec Center, and also, limited on-street parking is available on South Street in front of Beeson Hall. If the parking lot is full, park across the street at the Franklin Branch Library.
-
Thanks to an incredible donor, all proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction items sold, and table sponsorships will 100% support the Explore Summer Endowment this year!
-
Individual tickets are only $50 each and will be available to purchase on June 15, 2026.
-
This year, our Silver Tree Society members will be honored guests for their planned giving or legacies given within their lifetime in support of the Library.
WHEN: Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 1 - 3 p.m.
WHERE: Beeson Hall, 396 Branigin Blvd., Franklin, IN 46131

Your Ticket Includes:
A THREE-COURSE AFTERNOON TEA LUNCHEON

Here’s what to expect, if you’ve not been to an afternoon tea party before:
You will be seated at a round table for eight people. If you wish to sit near a friend, please indicate your preference when purchasing. When you arrive at the venue, your name and table number will be posted. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and you can browse the silent auction items. The meal will be served on a shared three-tiered stand at 1 p.m., with savories on the bottom tier, scones on the middle tier and sweets on the top tier. There will be one three-tiered stand for every four people. Traditionally, you eat one of each kind of item on each level, starting at the bottom and working your way up to desserts. If scones are served right from the oven (alas, ours will not be!), you would eat those first. To make it easy to access, you might remove the plate from the tier to pass around to the three people on your side of the table. The tiered stands will be removed from the table before the 2 p.m. performance with professional actress Debra Ann Miller.
A VISIT WITH BEATRIX POTTER
Born Helen Beatrix Potter on July 28, 1866, Beatrix Potter is one of the most beloved children's authors and illustrators. Her attention to detail and skill go far beyond Peter Rabbit & his friends. She produced and copyrighted stuffed toys, developed board games, coloring pages and wallpaper; and her drawings of fungi are still used in instruction and identification texts.
A generous supporter of the National Trust, she helped to preserve the landscape and culture of the Lake District and raised award-winning Herdwick Sheep. Like Peter Rabbit, she was devoted to her parents, but had a mind of her own; did not hesitate to squeeze under & around the barriers to keep women out of the world of work & science; and got into her fair share of scrapes with "Gentlemen Gardeners."
