When I visited Franklin in March of last year during my book tour, I had the most incredible time with the Johnson County Library and their energetic readers. It was a highlight of my time on the road! When I was asked to chair the 2026 Snuggle Up with a Book Ball, I was honored and I’m delighted to be the 2026 Book Ball Chair. By registering, donating and snuggling up with a book on February 28, you support Authors at JCPL and other Library programs.
The event, hosted by the Johnson County Library Foundation, enables the Foundation to bring bestselling and award-winning authors to Johnson County and create additional library programs and events. Since its founding ten years ago, the Foundation has supported numerous author visits, funded the Enhancing a Story campaign to provide programs and amenities at the Clark Pleasant Branch Library, supported the Library on the Prairie Festival, the How-To Festival, Space Day and various other programs for teens and adults at JCPL.
Libraries were sanctuaries for me as a child, quiet, wonder-filled spaces where the world opened wider than I could have ever imagined. I can remember sitting alone in the library, choosing my books for the week and feeling that anything might happen, anything at all because magic lived in those books. Today, libraries are more vital than ever: places for all, where belonging, truth, and imagination are freely offered to anyone who steps inside.
The Book Ball is a different fundraiser—no need to dress up and venture out in the Indiana winter. Simply register, donate, and snuggle up with a book in the comfort of your own home. You can invite friends over if you'd like, spend time with your family, be with a pet, or be alone. It is a great excuse to indulge yourself in the joy of reading.
There are two ways to participate: by yourself or as part of a team with family, friends, book club members, or even your pets. Either way, you simply snuggle up on February 28 wherever you wish; just register, donate and read.
Please be part of this year’s Book Ball! Please be part of something that supports a place for all of us! Your participation will help the Foundation support the Library in its efforts to grow literacy and strengthen our community by connecting people, resources, and experiences.
